Barbarians is a 2020 German historical war drama television series with Laurence Rupp, Jeanne Goursaud, and David Schütter as the main cast members. It was created by Andreas Heckmann, Arne Nolting, and Jan Martin Scharf.
The dramatization of the Germanic tribes’ subsequent rebellion under the leadership of Arminius during the Roman Empire’s occupation of Germany is a work of fiction. Season 2 of the show was ordered on November 10, 2020. The date of release is set for October 21, 2022.
What is Story Behind Barberian Series?
In the last part of the year 9 AD, the Romans were in charge of the area between the Rhine and the Elbe called Germania Magna. The Romans had been in the area for twenty years, and the heavy taxes and tribute demands of the empire made life hard for the Germanic tribes.
A united Germanic resistance is hard to put together because of small fights between the tribal chieftains and the fact that some tribesmen want peace with Rome for their own reasons. Arminius is an eques in the Roman Imperial army. He is from the Germanic Cherusci tribe, and his father Segimer gave him and his younger brother Flavus as hostages to Rome.
He goes back to Germany to help Publius Quinctilius Varus keep the area safe and in order. When he sees what Roman soldiers are doing to his people, he becomes the new chief of the Cherusci tribe and starts a rebellion with the help of Thusnelda, the daughter of Segestes, and Folkwin Wolfspeer, who were his best friends as a child.

In an era when franchises control so much of the media, it is wonderful to see original work performing so well. It’s particularly thrilling to witness a foreign language series gaining popularity outside of the nation where it was first produced. The season 2 trailer is given below:
Barbarians Season 1 Review
The German TV show Barbarians is now available to stream on Netflix. It is in German and has a not-very-good English dub. Now, if you want a more interesting story about the Roman invasion of Britain, you should watch Epix’s crazy import Britannia.
But if you want a simple piece of boring drama, Barbarians, which is about the buildup to the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in ancient Germany, might do in a pinch. The Romans took over Germanic lands that were inhabited by many small, warring tribes.
In the famous Teutoburg Forest tussle, many of these warring towns joined forces to defeat Roman legions. It’s a classic war story about an underdog who comes back from the dead, and it seems like it was made for a series about getting back at history’s most cruel and haughty enemy, the Roman Empire.
