Even though Dancing With the Stars‘ 31st season is still in its early stages, Tyra Banks‘ presenting style hasn’t exactly won over fans. Nikki Bella feels the same way.
A week after the former model was criticized for pronouncing Charli D’Amelio‘s boyfriend’s name incorrectly, the co-host received criticism for two pronunciation mistakes on the popular competition show. She praised Pasha Pashkov, who was just eliminated from Dancing With the Stars, and pro dancer Daniella Karagach during the most recent show. But unintentionally refers to them as a “beautiful masculine couple” rather than the married couple that they are.
Fans were outraged about other things as well, though. Heidi D’Amelio mispronounced Artem Chigvintsev’s name during their Viennese Waltz performance, which irritated his wife Nikki on Twitter. She tweeted “Tyra it’s CHIGvintsev lol” when the October 10 episode of Disney+ aired.
The AGT: Extreme star wasn’t the only one who felt this way, either. One individual commented in her comments, “Honestly!!!! Another chimed in, “Whether or not she’s heard it before, she should know how to deliver it as a television anchor.” Another fan chimed in, “Omg yep, it’s not that difficult.”
Although Tyra has gotten direct criticism since taking on the position for season 29, viewers of DWTS aren’t very happy to see her make the same error week after week. Many people soon took to social media to express their opinions about the TV personality’s current hosting duties, and they kept drawing comparisons between her and co-host Alfonso Ribeiro as well as former hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
One fan commented on Twitter, “Tyra is not a good fit for #DancingWiththeStars! Tom & Erin NEVER messed up this much!” Another person said, “I’m sick of Tyra making excuses because it’s live television. Alfonso has made like 1 mistake. Erin and Tom never made mistakes. I can’t stand her. Another viewer said, “Tyra Banks may be a lovely person, but I don’t like her as host of #dwts. I wish they would just let @alfonso Ribeiro host. Just him.”
Tyra still has a lot of support from her co-stars, despite the fact that people have strong feelings about her hosting duties this season. In fact, Carrie Ann Inaba, one of the judges, expressed nothing but affection for the model during her time on the program back in June.
At the time, she told Entertainment Tonight, “Of course, we want Tyra. We truly are family; not many shows are as close as Dancing with the Stars. Once you’re on our show, you’re in the family, and that’s very beautiful.
