Geum-Soon and her husband are being expelled from North Korea as the opening scene of our drama begins. A frantic crowd of people assembles as Geum-soon and her spouse, clutching their infant, rush to board the ships as they draw near. After navigating the crowd and boarding the ship, a woman’s child accidentally falls back into the water.

Geum-husband heroically reunites the child with his mother right away, but the strain on the ropes causes them to break, preventing him from going back to Geum-soon. Geum-soon shouts to her child and husband as the ship departs and they come to land in North Korea.

Geum-soon is reintroduced to us in the present as she cries out in fear for her missing child while undergoing a CT scan. A three-month prognosis is given after receiving a cancer diagnosis. During her time in South Korea, she founded the Nakwon conglomerate, and the recently opened hotel is regarded as the best hotel chain in the country.

Geum’s assistant, Secretary Jung Sang-Cheol, soon learns that Geum’s dying wish is to reunite with her kidnapped grandson. Secretary Jung hires a detective to look for the missing grandson twenty years later. However, they quickly discover that he has become involved in a gang that transports drugs to and from North Korea and China.

Today, as we watch Moon-sung in action, we learn that he is a contract killer who readily commits other heinous crimes. Because Secretary Jung is aware that Geum-soon would be horrified to learn who her grandson has become, he searches until he locates struggling stage performer Yoo Jae-Heon. The protagonist of Jae-current Heon’s play is a North Korean soldier imprisoned in South Korea.
Jae-performance Heon is being watched by Secretary Jung, who notices how well-done his North Korean accent is and wonders if he might be a good enough actor to play Geum-long-lost Soon’s grandson. He makes plans to pay him well after presenting his offer to Jae-Heon.

This brings us to Geum-future three’s grandchildren, who are currently her heirs and have gathered at the Nakwon Hotel for a shareholder meeting. Her youngest grandchild, Park Se-Yeon, devotes her time to the hotel and strives to preserve her grandmother’s legacy.

They seem to have a delicate relationship and are remarkably similar. Se-Joon, the brother of Se-eldest Yeon, is, however, completely focused on business when it comes to the hotel’s future. He still harbours resentment toward the family business and wants to sell the hotel.

In the interim, Jae-heon is reconsidering Secretary Jung’s offer. He gives it some internal thought before deciding to accept the position. As the transaction progresses, Secretary Jung sets up their identification documents and other paperwork. Yoon-hee, a friend of Jae- heon’s, plays the role of his young wife in the “play.”

The two collaborate to get into character and prepare for their respective roles. When all is prepared, Secretary Jung tells Geum-soon that he has tracked down her “grandson” and is sending him from China to South Korea to meet with her.
