Who Voices Shuri’s Ai Griot in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of creative people who want to be a part of it or who show up in roles you might not expect them to be in. And most of the time, our favorite characters’ A.I. systems play that role. Since Paul Bettany used to be Tony Stark’s AI system JARVIS, this is how he became the Vision of the MCU. We also saw some of it when Jennifer Connelly played Karen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and other movies.

Who Is Griot?

So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Letitia Wright’s character Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has her celebrity back to voice the new A.I. system Griot, and it’s Trevor Noah! We met Griot in the first Black Panther movie, but he was more of a star this time around.

This makes sense, given how important Shuri is in Wakanda Forever. In the first movie, we went on this journey with Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, so we got to see Shuri with Griot, but not as much as we do in Wakanda Forever.

Seeing more of their relationship in this movie makes us excited for the future when Shuri and Griot will be able to work together to make any kind of tech they want.

A.I. Systems in the MCU

In the Marvel universe, A.I. systems are very important. As was already said, sometimes they become completely different characters, but they still mean something to fans. Many of us named our electronics after the artificial intelligence systems that Tony Stark built (if that is just me and my friends, sorry, but my phone is named FRIDAY and she does call me “Boss”).

Griot is funny because he tries to push Shuri in the same way that JARVIS did. He will tell her when her mother is coming, try to get her to call the people she has been ignoring, and try to lead Shuri in the right direction, even if he isn’t a real being. But Tony and Peter Parker’s relationship taught us that your A.I. system can be very important to you, so why not think of Griot as a new character to love?

Trevor Noah’s Future in the MCU

It’s also fun to hear Noah’s voice Griot. Now that Noah’s time as host of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is coming to an end, he has a little more freedom.

What if we saw a lot more of Griot in the Marvel universe? To be fair, I just miss the A.I. part of the MCU because, after Tony Stark died, we only really saw it in Peter’s suit in Spider-Man: Far From Home before it was taken away in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Maybe I just want more A.I. back, or maybe it’s just nice to have Trevor Noah back, but after Wakanda Forever, please give me more Griot!

The new Black Panther movie, Wakanda Forever, is now in theatres.
