The survivors are stuck in a strange and dangerous wilderness where they have to work together to stay alive. The show either, a mother, son, and daughter who are split up and try to get back together.
The father has visions that show him where his wife and son are and when they are there. The sinkhole and Teratorn’s sudden appearance got the attention of the US Department of Homeland Security, which is looking into something similar that happened in the Mojave Desert.
As the series goes on, scientists figure out that sinkholes are temporary ways to get to the same place in 10,000 BC. The survivors are trying hard to get back through the portal before it shuts.
Gavin’s desperate attempts to find his family and friends, who are still in danger, take up most of the sixth episode. Gavin and his friends see Silas from a distance as they argue with Lazarus’ guards. Then they meet Gavin’s father, James, but they still can’t get Gavin to fully trust him. James came back from the future and told them that things were very bad in the future.
In 1988, Josh and Raily help Caroline find the device for traveling through time, but she is taken and a message is left for them. They try too hard to understand the message, so Raily leaves a message for his dad, who is still a teenager in 88′. This changed Sam’s memory in 10’000 BC.
Even though there is a mystery about time travel going on, Gavin’s main goal is to get his family back together. He asks James for help going back to 88 and tells him that Aldridge told him about a way to get back there. James, on the other hand, says that the portal leads to the future.
