Christmas With You: Who is Angelina Chavez Torres?

Now that November is well underway, the countdown to Christmas has begun, and it’s no surprise that Netflix is starting to release its lineup of feel-good Christmas movies.

The movie stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Aimee Garcia. It’s about a pop star named Angelina who wants to get away from her career burnout by going to a small town. There, she finds inspiration and a chance at true love.

It’s a typical happy and sad movie to start the holiday season, but even though it helps people get ready for Christmas, it also takes a moment to stop and think.

Angelina Chavez Torres is remembered touchingly at the end of Christmas With You, just before the credits roll.

Who is Angelina Chavez Torres?

Angelina Chavez Torres is the mother of German Michael Torres, who is one of the show’s writers and producers.

When a movie or TV show has a touching dedication like this one, it’s usually to honor a cast member or crew member who has passed away. In this case, though, the tribute is to a much-loved parent.

Angelina was born in Hayden, Arizona, on October 2, 1938, to Octaviano Duran Chavez and Soledad Romo Chavez. She was one of 11 children in a big family, with eight brothers and two sisters.

The film Christmas With You premiered on November 17, 2022, and is now available to stream on Netflix.

Is Christmas With You a True Story?

The story in ‘Christmas With You‘ is fictional and not based on any actual events. Written by Paco Farias and Jennifer C. Stetson, the film is based on a work of fiction by German author Michael Torres. In contrast to Torres, who has worked on films like “Little Women,” “Ed Wood,” and “James and the Giant Peach” while training under famous producers, “The Favourite” marks the feature film debuts of the two formers.

Strangely, he devoted the Aimee Garcia-starring film to his mother, Angelina Chavez Torres, who passed away in the year 2020.

The film’s emphasis on diversity was a major selling point for Aimee Garcia. In a recent interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the actress, who is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, spoke about how diversity is reflected in the holiday romance genre.

Since it’s told from a Latino point of view, it also features tequila, tamales, and a smattering of Spanish, in addition to the heart, humor, and romance that are hallmarks of the holiday season. It was directed by a Latina, Gabby Tagliavini, produced by a Latino, Herman Torres, and written by Latinos, she proclaimed.

Gabriela Tagliavini, who previously directed and co-wrote the Spanish film “Despite Everything,” praised this work for Netflix. The film “Christmas With You” is perfect for the entire family because it includes touching moments about family history and disagreements. Additionally, the movie is bursting with the joy and cheer of the festive season through the use of music. Angelina sets out on a trip to see her devoted fan, Cristina, who lives in Mexico with her dad, Miguel.

Angelina thinks that this will give her the time and space she needs to write a genuine holiday song, which is required by her record label. Miguel, Cristina’s dad, teaches at a music school and composes music in his spare time. The two main characters, now adults, form a close friendship over their mutual appreciation of music, and they go on to write a hit song about love and the holidays. The film is more than a seasonal romance, though.

The writers tacked on subplots to delve deeper into topics like creative burnout and its detrimental effects on a person whose livelihood depends on the same. If she doesn’t write another smash tune, pop star Angelina worries she’ll disappear into obscurity.

This is evidence of the transience of modern society and the widespread acceptance of the fact that individuals have the shortest attention spans in history. The stress that musicians and other artists feel to stay current and in the spotlight is reflected in ‘Christmas With You.’

Angelina doesn’t become the next Mariah Carey on her trip to a quaint little town, but she does channel the holiday spirit and write a song that could save her career. Ultimately, while the rom-com is a work of fiction, its lively soul and spirit are very real, wrapping their arms around the audience and drawing them into the bustling holiday vibe like a warm hug.
