Great Success to Tulsa King

The Hollywood Reporter says that the numbers for “Tulsa King” make it the most important new series of the year. The Nielsen numbers that Paramount gave to THR show that more people watched the premiere of the series than HBO’s “House of Dragon,” making it the most-watched show of the year.

Having the most-watched series premiere in a year with long-awaited projects like “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Andor,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” and “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is a big deal for Paramount+.

Tanya Giles, who is in charge of programming at Paramount Streaming, talked about the premiere and said, “With the unbeatable Sylvester Stallone and Taylor Sheridan‘s darkly funny take on the popular mobster genre, “Tulsa King” is the latest hit movie.

The premiere of the series on Paramount+ led to a record number of people signing up in one day. This was made possible by the fact that Paramount Global was able to reach the huge ‘Yellowstone’ audience on Paramount Network.” CEO Chris McCarthy said that the show’s success gave them all the information they needed to give it a second season.

Of course, there is a lot that goes into making a popular show. But the face of the show is one of the most important parts. Stallone has shown that he can get people to go see big-budget movies like “Rocky,” “Rambo,” and “The Expendables,” which are all franchises. But he may find his role in “Tulsa King” to be very special.

Fulfillment of Dream

Sylvester Stallone and Paramount have worked together in the past. In an interview with Empire Magazine to promote “Tulsa King,” Stallone said that he talked about wanting to be a gangster and how he was turned down for a role in “The Godfather.” He tried to be a part of the famous wedding scene, but they told him he wasn’t the right kind of person. He told The Hollywood Reporter 50 years later that he had always wanted to play a gangster, but that he wanted to play his gangster in a different way.

“I wanted to play a different kind of gangster who doesn’t seem like a gangster at first. He really is a guy who likes to work with others “THR,” Stallone said. “So, you won’t automatically think of a thug as someone who stares at you dead-eyed and talks in a deep voice. But if he has to get heavy, it’s going to get really heavy. So I told myself, “I’ll play him as close to myself as I’ve ever played anyone.”

Maybe it’s funny that Paramount chose Stallone to lead their gangster series 50 years after telling an Italian actor that he wasn’t the right kind of person to be an extra in a movie about Italian Mafiosi. But Stallone seems ready to show them what they missed out on all those years ago by leading the way to Paramount+’s most important new subscriber day in its history. Every platform spends millions of dollars on shows for their customers, but Stallone and Taylor Sheridan show that all you need to beat them is a well-known face and a lifelong dream.
