Gossip Girl Season 2 Release Date: the Series Has Officially Been Renewed for Season Two!

It’s hard to think of a comeback that was more eagerly awaited than the Gossip Girl reboot, which started on HBO Max last July. The numbers were about what was expected. According to Deadline, the show was the most-watched HBO Max original series during its first weekend.

People in 555,000 U.S. homes watched the first episode. Fittingly, Gossip Girl also took over social media. On the day of its premiere, it was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter and had about 15 billion views on TikTok.

The show’s initial popularity made people wonder if it would last more than one season. Here is what we know so far about season two of the new Gossip Girl.

The Series Has Officially Been Renewed for Season Two

HBO Max said in September 2021 that the reboot of Gossip Girl will have a second season. Just two weeks before season one part two’s premiere, the Gossip Girl Twitter account posted a two-minute teaser clip that looks like it will have just as much drama as the first part of the season. Release Date

The second season of Gossip Girl began on HBOMax on December 1, 2022.

Josh Safran Has Already Thought About Future Seasons

Safran is already planning for next season. The producer is used to making long-running shows; he was also the executive producer of the first Gossip Girl. There were six seasons of the first show.

Safran told Harper’s Bazaar before a second season was confirmed, “I would love to keep the show going.” “I set it up so that each season is a semester, so we wouldn’t have the same problem as the first show, whereby the third season, the characters had to go to college. Which I think was the right choice at the time. If you think about it now, you could have stayed in high school longer. If each season is a semester and they are now juniors, they would go to college in Season 5.”

Safran told Elle the same thing, saying that he only started the show because he wanted there to be more than one season. He said that he has planned out three seasons.

“I don’t do anything unless I know there’s more to it,” he said. “I didn’t want to wrap it up.” “It’s Gossip Girl, and I hope you get to see more of it. What’s the point of doing it again if it’s not going to happen again? I could tell you right now that I have three seasons planned so far. The first time, we didn’t know it was going to happen for six years. But right now, I’m sure I’m thinking of three.”

Season Two Might Feature Cameos

Safran told the Daily Beast that he and the other creators decided not to bring back any of the original show’s stars so that the audience could get to know the new ones. “Why would you want to briefly get to know Zoya if you can suddenly see Nate?” Safran asked. But if there is a second season, Safran is more open to combining old and new Gossip Girl characters.

“The decision was, ‘Let’s finish Season 1,’ and if we get Season 2, we’ll be able to bring in cameos that are more than just glorified cameos and give them actual storylines,'” Safran said. “We hope to get there, and if we do, we’ll let the cast know and see if they want to come. Some people from the original show make cameos in Season 1, but not the main cast.”

In October, Michelle Trachtenberg was confirmed to be back as Georgina Sparks by the show’s creator, Safran.

Safran told Teen Vogue that what she brought to the original show was chaos. “She is an anarchist. She’ll do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. So we brought that energy to the first show, and then we brought it back to this one. She’s the same, and I think that’s so much fun.

Michelle is older, we’re all older, and Georgina is older, but she still has the same energy. She has no more time.” He also said, “Michelle inhabits that role so fully and thoughtfully, and she just knows what she’s there to do and how she fits into this universe.
