1923 Release Date: Everything You Want to Know

1923 is an Upcoming American Western drama television series. In February, streaming service Paramount+ announced that, in addition to ordering more episodes of the hugely popular show 1883, they had also ordered a new show about the Dutton family called 1932. But later, the streamer said that the title of the show had been changed from 1932 to 1923.

The change in time seems to be done so that the show can talk about the effects of World War I and the beginning of the Great Depression. According to a news release about the title change, “1923” is about the next two generations of the Dutton family and how they try to survive a historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft. All of these things happened while Montana was going through its own Great Depression, which started almost a decade before the rest of the country.

1923 Expected Plot

The upcoming prequel to Yellowstone was supposed to be about how the Great Depression and the end of Prohibition changed the American West and the Dutton family’s life there.

Under its new name, however, the series will be about what happened after the First World War, as well as the times of Western Expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Even though the latter didn’t start until 1929, it was in Montana a decade before that.

Taylor Sheridan may have found a problem with the original time period from a historical point of view. In 1926, Montana was the first state to end Prohibition. So, if Sheridan had kept the original title of 1932, the show couldn’t have been about Prohibition.

Also, since the show takes place in 1917, near the end of World War I, this will have a bigger and more complicated effect on the characters.

In 1883, the first Yellowstone spinoff, the Duttons left poverty and marched across the Great Plains to find a better life. In the meantime, the upcoming prequel will show us how the Dutton family dealt with historical problems in their new home.
