Ginger Snap’s Character Pattie Gonia: How Did He Become a LGBTQ+ Activist?

Pattie Gonia is an activist for the environment, a drag queen, and a professional homosexual. They use clever videos and theatrical outfits on social media to promote activism for the environment.

Gonia posted their first TikTok in December 2020. Since then, every TikTok they’ve made has made a strong statement about how we should treat the planet we live on (their videos have garnered over 1 million likes and 127,000 followers.) They have made getting rid of trash a fashion moment, among other things.

For example, Pattie Gonia will say, “If you can hold onto your trash boyfriend for two whole years, then you can hold onto this piece of trash for 5 more minutes,” as she picks up trash on the ground while wearing, what else, a fancy gown made of recycled trash.

Wiley comes from Lincoln, Nebraska.  He has the Eagle Scout rank.  Gonia got a degree in advertising and public relations from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2014.  Wiley has been a creative director and a photographer for a living.

The name Pattie Gonia is a play on the name of an American clothing company called Patagonia.  Pattie Gonia’s activism is mostly about environmental and LGBTQ+ issues. She works to make the environmentalist and outdoor communities more accepting of queer identities and raises awareness about climate change and its effects.
