In 2018, Homecoming on Prime Video was a creepy cult hit with Julia Roberts, who is one of the most well-known movie stars in the world. The series, which was directed by Sam Esmail and had a haunting mystery, was about corruption at a place where soldiers with PTSD were given an experimental treatment that erased their memories.
The second season of Homecoming starts today on Prime Video, but Julia Roberts is nowhere to be seen. It looks like Julia Roberts has been replaced by Janelle Monáe in Homecoming.
The fact that Julia Roberts played psychologist Heidi Bergman in Season 1 of Homecoming was one of the best things about the show. Heidi’s story was told at two different times. At first, she was a caseworker at Geist’s Homecoming facility.
In the second, she seems to have forgotten everything she did there. In the past, Heidi and one of her patients, Walter Cruz (Stephen James), become close friends. In the future, Heidi’s former manager, Colin Belfast (Bobby Cannavale), tries to get her to remember Walter.

Homecoming was first given a two-season order because of the talent involved and the popularity of the podcast of the same name by Gimlet Media, which was the show’s inspiration. Season 2 of Homecoming is now on Prime Video, but Julia Roberts and Sam Esmail are no longer in it.
So what’s up? Why did Janelle Monáe take the place of Julia Roberts in Homecoming? Who’s who in Season 2 of Homecoming? Why doesn’t Season 2 have Julia Roberts? Here’s all the information you need.
Why Isn’t Julia Roberts in Homecoming Season 2?
Heidi’s story could have continued in Homecoming Season 2, but her story pretty much ended at the end of Season 1. We watched as she realized that the Homecoming facility was only treating the soldiers’ PTSD so that they could be sent back into the field. Heidi fought back by giving herself and Walter too much of the serum. This made them forget everything and get the hell out of Homecoming.

In a story that will happen in the future, Colin will help Heidi remember Homecoming. Then, she tries to get back together with Walter, but she keeps him in the dark. But in the last scene of the season, Heidi figures out that Walter might remember something from Homecoming.
Why Did Homecoming Replace Julia Roberts
Heidi’s storyline may be mostly over, but we still don’t know what happened to Walter or how Colin’s assistant Audrey Temple (Hong Chau) jumped over him in the line of power at Geist. The character played by Janelle Monáe is used to fill in these gaps in Season 2 of Homecoming.

Monáe’s character wakes up in the first scene of Season 2 of Homecoming on a rowboat in the middle of a lake. She doesn’t know where she is, is scared, and can’t remember anything. The only clues she has are an Airborne tattoo and a veteran’s card with her name on it. Jackie goes on a journey to find out who she is and, more importantly, who hurt her. Everything points to a strange company called Geist.
