How Many Reindeer Does Santa Have?

There are different kinds of reindeer that Santa uses. How do they act? Are they up to no good? How funny are they?

In his poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” Clement C. Moore kept the names of eight reindeer a secret. But when everyone found out, they became the subject of songs, and Santa started using their names every time he took off in his sled.

Santa Claus’s Reindeer

Christmas is a traditional holiday that people all over the world celebrate. At Christmas, Santa gives gifts to children, and people say he rides his reindeer to get there. Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dasher Blitzen, and Donner are the names of the reindeer. Christmas is a little strange, and it’s fun to celebrate Christmas traditions and Santa Claus when the decorations, cookies, milk, and evergreen Christmas trees come out.

How Many Reindeer Does Santa Have?

Are Santa’s Reindeer Female or Male?

Pop culture usually shows Santa’s reindeer as male (Rudolph is called a “him” in the song), but two professors at the University of Edinburgh say that Santa’s reindeer are all female.

This is because male reindeer lose their antlers in the winter, but female reindeer keep them, and Santa’s reindeer are always shown with antlers. During the winter, male reindeer also lose weight and energy, so only female reindeer are strong and healthy enough to pull a sleigh full of toys and a 260-pound man.

Who Hasn’t Heard of Dasher?

He is one of Santa’s reindeer that runs the fastest. He is always ready to leave in a hurry. Because of this, he is very good at track and field in the off-season.

After spending a year at the North Pole, he might go to a high school track meet and try to run the 800-yard dash. He is almost always the first one to finish.

Rudolph’s glowing nose helped him guide Santa safely around the world on the snowiest nights, and the rest of the reindeer agreed that he should just stay with the herd.

The other reindeer is named Olive.

She did laugh at Rudolph’s big red nose, but it was only because she thought he was a great addition to Santa’s team and wanted to join it.
