On this day, people honor farmers and the work they do in the country. It shows how much the former prime minister did to help change the way India’s agriculture works.
Singh was called the “Champion of India’s Peasants” because he worked to improve the lives of farmers and make agriculture better all over the country.
He also wrote several books about helping farmers. Some well-known titles are “Abolition of Zamindari,” “Co-operative Farming X,” and “Prevention of Division of Holdings Below a Certain Minimum.

- An agricultural household is one that produced fields or crops, livestock, or other specified agricultural products worth more than 4,000 and had a member who was self-employed in agriculture in the 365 days before the survey.

Chaudhary Charan Singh was born in Uttar Pradesh on December 23, 1902, to a family of middle-class farmers.

Singh joined the Independence movement because Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolence inspired him. After India got its independence, he joined with socialists in the countryside.

He was the main person in charge of changing how the land was used in Uttar Pradesh. He was one of the main people who worked on making the Debt Redemption Bill of 1939, which helped rural debtors a lot.

Every year on December 23, which is also the birthday of India’s fifth Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, they celebrate Indian National Farmers Day.
On December 23, India celebrates “Kisan Diwas,” which is the birthday of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the country’s fifth prime minister. This year, the day comes after a year-long protest by farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, which ended after the government changed three central laws.

Since 2001, National Farmers Day has been held in India on Singh’s birthday.

But the farmers have said they will keep up their protests, and the leader of the farmers, Rakesh Tikait, has promised to talk to the Centre about their problems.

- The government tells farmers about new policies that will help them.
- Kisan seminars are held at the divisional, district, and block levels.
- At these events, agricultural officers and agriculture scientists teach farmers the most up-to-date information.
- The seminars for farmers are held in different places where agriculture science and agriculture knowledge are taught.
- The district rural development firm puts on seminars, festivals, and exhibitions about different parts of agriculture and rural development.
- The farmers are taught about insurance plans for agriculture.
- The Indian government is working on different plans to help farmers make more money, but the results haven’t shown up yet.
