“Iron Man 3” by Shane Black Will Not Be Released on Christmas? 

Shane Black, who directed Iron Man 3, had to be persuaded at first to set the movie at Christmas. Even though he usually sets his movies around Christmas, that wasn’t the plan for Iron Man 3. Black told Empire, “I didn’t want Christmas to feel like a gimmick or something that was predictable or showy on my part.”

“It was fun at first, but it stopped being fun as soon as people noticed it.” Drew Pearce, who wrote the screenplay with Black, persuaded him to set the movie during the holiday.
He wanted to set the movie during the winter holidays again after hearing that it was similar to another well-known Christmas story. “I agreed mostly because it reminded me of A Christmas Carol,” said Black. “Tony loses his support, loses his base, and is now lost in the middle of the country.
