Knives Out 3 Release Date: Will There Be a Knives Out 4?

The death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey has been shrouded in mystery, but famous detective Benoit Blanc is certain of one thing: every member of the highly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a potential killer. Blanc now has the unenviable task of sorting through a tangle of lies and distractions to get to the bottom of things.

What Will Knives Out 3 Be About?

While there has been no official word on what the plot of Knives Out 3 will entail as of yet, some viewers may have spotted a clue about the film’s third act in the second.

An early scene in the film features Kathryn Hahn’s Claire Debella asking Benoit Blanc, “Did you solve the murder of — well — whatshername — the ballet dancer thing, that’s you?” after everyone is astonished to find him at the pier. Many viewers take this as a sign that the third film will be a prequel focusing on one of Benoit Blanc’s earliest investigations.

When Will Knives Out 3 Come Out?

According to an interview Johnson gave to Deadline in November 2022, the third picture is still in the very early stages of planning. This means that a release date is still quite a ways off.

He plans to begin writing the script sometime in early 2023 and has said, “[It’s] the concept of figuring out how it can be radically different from this one as well as the first one.”

“A Moleskine notebook is always in my bag, and I use it for notes. For me, 80 percent of the process is spent jotting notes and organizing my thoughts in notebooks. To advance my career, “he went on to say “I’m hoping that by laying the groundwork for a story and plot while promoting this picture, I won’t have to start from scratch after the new year and face the dreaded blank page. But I suppose that’s how it usually is with you.

Who is Starring in Knives Out 3?

Craig is expected to return to the character of investigator Benoit Blanc in the next film. It’s unlikely that any of the original cast members from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery would return since that Johnson has labeled the film trilogy as an anthology.

Fans are already “wish casting” fresh talents like Jennifer Coolidge and Keke Palmer for the third film in the series. Oscar Issac is also high on many fans’ lists.

Who is Directing Knives Out 3?

The third installment will also be directed by Johnson, who previously helmed the first two films in the series. The forthcoming film’s script will be written by him as well.

Will There Be a Knives Out 4?

Even if Netflix hasn’t given the go-light for a fourth film, Johnson is still interested in making more movies. “As long as I and Daniel [Craig] are enjoying ourselves, I will continue to write these, in the hopes that each one will live up to Agatha Christie’s legacy. As long as they let me, I’ll keep manufacturing these “Variety, he said.

While chatting with Deadline, Craig confirmed those sentiments, adding, “We’ll force it on the public if there’s enough demand. But if Rian and I ever felt like we were just producing them, I believe we would stop. I don’t think that’s what either of us wants to accomplish with our lives. Forget about it until actual enjoyment can be had from them.

What to Expect in the Third Movie?

Digital Spy quotes writer/director Rian Johnson as saying, “The challenge is settling on something that first of all feels different than the first two and also seems like the only reason for us to keep producing them is if we’re enthusiastic to make them.” In the most current issue of RadioTimes, Rian Johnson, director of Knives Out and Glass Onion, gave an intriguing update on the creation of the third film in the franchise and highlighted the possibilities of additional future sequels.

Johnson said, “just starting to figure out what the next one is going to be” in response to a question about whether or not he has ideas for Knives Out 3. The murder-mystery filmmaker said that while the third film is the last one required by their Netflix deal, he “doesn’t see it as a trilogy” and wants to keep the franchise going “for as long as [they] can:” Our Netflix deal calls for a third film, but I don’t see it that way.

In my opinion, this is not a one-time event. If Daniel [Craig] and I are enjoying ourselves and learning something new each time, we’ll keep doing this for as long as we can.
