American crime drama anthology series Death was developed by Patrick Macmanus and is based on the podcast of the same name. It follows the story of Christopher Duntsch, a neurosurgeon who became notorious for permanently mutilating his patients, killing two of them in the process.
After the first season aired, the show received mostly positive reviews and ratings from viewers all around the world. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes found a 92% approval rating across 25 critic reviews, with an average score of 7.4/10.
“Though it keeps viewers in the waiting room a bit too long,” notes the website’s critical consensus for Dr. Death, “it remains a terrifying tale of medical malfeasance focused around Joshua Jackson’s adequately unnerving performance.” A weighted average of 12 critics’ scores gave this film a 75 out of 100 on Metacritic, which is indicative of “generally good reviews.”
