Poldark Season 5 Plotline: What Can We Expect From It?
For the first time, Season 5 of Poldark won’t be based on Winston Graham’s books. Instead, the last season will take place in the 11-year gap between book seven, “The Angry Tide,” which ends in 1799, and book eight, “The Stranger From the Sea,” which starts in 1810.
Debbie Horsfield, who made the show Poldark, told the BBC: “In book eight, which takes place 11 years later, Ross is on a special mission for the government abroad. How did he go from being a restless, sometimes reckless, and somewhat disillusioned MP who gave up on ever really “making a difference” in the world to being sent by the Crown as Special Agent Poldark to Portugal to report on Napoleon’s Peninsula War?”
The BBC, which aired the season earlier this year in the U.K., has a summary of what will happen in the season that gives some answers. It says: “A new century brings hope for the future, but Cornwall is still haunted by the past.
Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner), after Elizabeth’s death, decides to leave Westminster and spend more time with the people he loves. But when an old friend needs help, Ross has to go against the rules and think about how loyal he is to the king and country.”
The summary continues, “As the Enyses (Luke Norris and Gabriella Wilde) rally to join the cause, Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) must deal with dangers close to home, while George (Jack Farthing
ing) woos corrupt powers whose influence spans the Empire.”
