What Happened in Big Shot Season 1?

After losing his job as an NCAA coach for throwing a chair at a referee, the brusque, abrasive, and hotheaded Marvyn Korn accepts a position as head coach at Westbrook, a posh all-girls private high school. His tough approach doesn’t endear him to the team’s players.

When Korn’s wife gets a job in Italy, she brings their daughter Emma to live with him full-time. Korn gradually learns how to loosen up and have better interactions with others. As the Westbrook Sirens’ performance improves on the court, they attract more attention, especially from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB).

The Sirens are getting ready for a major game against the Carlsbad Cobras when the school offers him a coaching position. Coach Korn needs to come up with new ideas, including one he calls the “Sacrifice Play,” after the Siren playbook mysteriously disappears and Carlsbad is suspected to be responsible.

After considering the offer from UCSB, Coach Korn has decided to remain at Westbrook. He tells the players before the big game, “I set out to design a new playbook for the team, which I did, but I ended up writing a new one for me.”

Coach Korn suggests playing without fans as tensions rise due to numerous antics designed to put the Sirens off their game (including a swarm of bees that enters the gym!). The game was close all the way through, but in the end, Mouse used the Sacrifice Play to score the game-winning basket.

Where is Big Shot Filmed?

Even though it appears as though the Westbrook Sirens are playing in a real high school, the action of Big Shot took place on the Paramount lot in Los Angeles, California. The set experienced many shutdowns due to COVID-19-positive tests.

“My son went to bed last night crying and woke up crying because he can’t be with his father,” Stamos stated in January. “Having a job is a privilege for me right now, and for that I am thankful. After being infected three times, I am now required to stay in isolation for another ten days.

The Twitter community was also urged by Stamos to take the pandemic seriously. Tweeting, “I feel my job is doing everything they can to keep us safe,” he emphasized the importance of his position. But please be respectful of the rules; what you do has repercussions far beyond your own life. Thanks.”
