A New Teaser for “Shazam!” Shows Our Hero Battling a Dragon

Shazam is one thing on the horizon that DC fans are anxiously anticipating. The Gods’ fury. Billy Batson and the Shazam! the family go on new adventures in the planned follow-up to the 2019 film. We can take a closer peek at the upcoming adventure in a new teaser for the movie as its March release date draws nearer.

We get our first clear glimpse of Helen Mirren‘s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso in the new clip, the daughters of Atlas. Asher Angel’s Billy, who is now an adult, is transforming to fight a dragon wreaking devastation on the city, and we also get a brief glimpse of Djimon Hounsou’s Shazam.

Billy does one of the funniest turns possible by calling out to the dragon, “Hey Khaleesi!” before dispatching him. The montage also reveals that Rachel Zegler’s Anthea will play a crucial role in Hespera and Kalypso’s scheme.

In the future film, Billy’s family will cooperate to prevent the daughters of Atlas from annihilating the planet. And because Billy takes the Gods’ powers for granted, they had to go somewhere to reconcile with them. Zachary Levi, who plays Billy Batson/Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Ian Chen, and Meagan Good round out the cast. Darla is played by Faithe Herman and Meagan Good.

Grace Fulton will play Mary in the movie instead of Michelle Borth, who played the role in the original movie. The foster parents of Billy and his brothers, Victor Vásquez, as well as Jovan Armand and D. J. Cotrona as Pedro, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews as Rosa, are also included in the cast. David F. Sandberg is the film’s director, working from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan.

DC Studios is undergoing a significant transition of its own in response to Warner Bros Discovery’s significant restructuring from the previous year. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the newly appointed co-CEOs, will provide a new path for the DC movie franchise.

However, Levi made it quite clear that Shazam! won’t be recast during the most recent restructuring, so fans need not fear. The next film is one of the studio’s main releases this year, along with Aquaman 2 and The Flash, according to new WBD CEO David Zaslav. It’s not yet apparent, though, which way the franchise will turn.

Shazam! Warner Bros. will release Fury of the Gods on March 17, 2023.
