CBS announced today that production on a fifth season of Tough as Nails will begin soon. Because the third season of the competition show just wrapped up in December, the renewal comes as a surprise. The series was revived in April for a second season, and Season 4 is reportedly already in production. However, there is no word yet on when the show will premiere.

It was reported on October 3, 2019, that CBS had ordered 10 episodes of Tough as Nails. The show’s host, Phil Keoghan, and his wife, Louise, serve as executive producers.

St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, New York City, Cincinnati, and Las Vegas were among the many cities that participated in a nationwide casting search at the beginning of November. It was revealed on April 29, 2020, that the premiere episode will air on July 8, 2020, and that it would last for two hours.

Team competitions provide those who lose elimination challenges a second chance to earn prizes, unlike in most reality events. Each winning team receives $12,000 ($2,000 for each member) and a special Honor Badge for their efforts.

Winners of the most Badges of Honor at the end of the season receive an additional $60,000. ($10,000 per player). A tie-breaker will be used if both teams have earned the same amount of Badges of Honor.
