I Am Groot Season 2 Release Date: Who Are in This Season?

Shorts chronicle Baby Groot’s galactic upbringing, as he encounters and often gets into trouble with a wide variety of strange and interesting characters.

With such brief episodes, many viewers will have already binged their way through Baby Groot’s escapades because I Am Groot season 1 is now available on Disney Plus.

Inevitably, this raises the question of whether or not the show will be renewed for a second season, which would explore what happened to Baby Groot after he grew up to become a teenager but before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s mid-credits scene.

Will I Am Groot Be Back for Season 2 on Disney Plus?

Yes, it will! After the announcement of a second season of shorts for I Am Groot at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, writer and director Kirsten Lepore told D23 that she “can’t give away any of the details,” but that the new episodes will be “very entertaining and in the same spirit as the first collection.

Lepore has promised that fans would “get to see Groot in a lot of various, fascinating circumstances!” in future seasons, so they won’t have to worry that season 1 will be the end of Baby Groot’s adventures.

Like Season 1, the upcoming season will consist of five episodes. The show is a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Disney Platform Distribution.

I Am Groot Cast Members: Who Are In This Season?

Vin Diesel’s (brief) voice work as Baby Groot was included in the first season, and while it hasn’t been confirmed, we’re hoping he’ll return for the second.

Bradley Cooper, who played Rocket in the first season, is expected to return in that role for the second, and the rest of the cast is also likely to do so. This might pave the path for additional Guardians to reprise their roles, while the series’ use of lifelike animation might make cameos by Star-Lord and Gamora difficult unless they were limited to voiceovers.

What Can We Expect From This Season?

Since the first episode of the series I Am Groot just came out, we should soon learn more about the remaining five shorts in the series from the creator.

I Am Groot, the second animated series from Marvel Studios, focuses on a “tight” time frame, detailing events that occurred between the main events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the movie’s mid-credits scene, which portrays a teenage Groot.

Groot, still in his infant stage, will grow up alongside Rocket and other aliens in this series. In the pilot episode, Baby Groot is released to scavenge supplies from within the Elector’s Qudrant to lure the Guardians (of the Galaxy), and in the process, he accidentally blows up a section of the spaceship. While Baby Groot is doing his best to patch up the hole left by the explosion, Rocket comes across a doodle he drew shortly after.

A second explosion is about to pull Rocket out of the ship as Baby Groot rushes to his aid.
