The storyline of the TV show Anne with an “e” is a mix of period drama and “coming-of-age” stories set in the 19th century. Whereas the series is about a girl named Anne, Anne’s parents died when she was very young, leaving her an orphan. Later, Matthew Cuthbert finds Anne at the train station, so he takes her with him and gives her shelter, but Marilla thinks it might be dangerous to keep an unknown orphan girl at home. She doesn’t trust Anne, and later she mistakes her for a thief and sends her back to the orphanage. Still, Anne is afraid to go back to the orphanage. She will go back to the train station, where Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert will ask Anne to stay with them and make her a family member.
