This episode served the same redemptive function as the previous ones. Yuto had previously shown little team spirit and just cared about winning for himself, but in this chapter, he demonstrates that he cares more about the team than himself by coming back to block the other two cyclists so that Kuroda and Manami may make up ground on the people ahead of them.
