It has been announced that the Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Part 2 Release Date would consist of five episodes, with the anime expected to premiere sometime in 2023.
Record of Ragnarok’s second season kept the momentum going with two more epic battles: Jack the Ripper versus Hercules, and then Shiva versus Raiden.
Episode 10 of the anime was cut short right before the next battle with the mysterious Buddha was to begin; in the post-credit scene, he famously switched sides and joined Humanity.
Good news, lovers of Record of Ragnarok: season 2 part 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2023. Here’s all you need to know in the meantime.

To clarify, as of January 2023, the only anime project that both Graphinica and Yumeta are scheduled to work on this year is the upcoming spring season of Tokyo Mew Mew Mew. Early speculation places the resumption of the cosmic one vs one anime series in Summer 2023, assuming the crews will continue working on Record of Ragnarok after finishing Tokyo Mew Mew Mew.

Part 1 of Record of Ragnarok Season 2 converted chapters 20–42 of the original manga series into its first 10 episodes (chapters 20-30 for Jack The Ripper vs Hercules, and chapters 31-42 for Shiva vs Raiden). The next round between Buddha and Zerofuku (the fusion of The Seven Gods of Fortune) is planned to be adapted in its entirety in the next five episodes of Record of Ragnarok season 2 part 2.
The remaining rounds include Hades vs. Qin Shi Huang and Beelzebub vs. Nikola Tesla, both of which are likely to be made into episodes in a third season, should the show be renewed.
Director Explains the Adaptation Process
Anime Trending talked with director Masao Okubo before the 2021 premiere of the first season of Record of Ragnarok to learn more about the production process for straight manga adaptations.

Specifically, Okubo said, “I sought to include aspects that I was most thrilled about when reading the book and leave them unaltered,” and “I made sure anime didn’t veer off track from the original manga.”
“I tried to stay true to the comic in every aspect of the animation. Although the original writers did review the story, character, and location details, I appreciated the opportunity to make my own unique contributions. Because the writers recognised that manga and anime employ different techniques to convey the same emotional beats, I was given a lot of creative freedom. As quoted on Anime Trending from Masao Okubo.
“As the original manga had too many lines (as in literal lines, not text and character dialogues), it would’ve been impossible to animate just like it,” the director would elaborate.
“I tried to cut down on the number of lines as much as possible, but the crew still had problems afterward… Having made that mistake, I now know better. As quoted on Anime Trending from Masao Okubo.

I had the pleasure of working with [showrunner Masao Okubo] for the first time during the pilot episode. As we worked, I believe we were both curious about the other’s perspective. According to the Record of Ragnarok website, producer Jun Urushiyama remarked, “But now that we’re in the second season, we have a greater knowledge of how the director wants the visuals to be generated.”
Currently, we are making modifications to accommodate the director’s specific suggestions. For the second season, I hope you pay close attention to the mood and events on screen.
