It is true that “he who controls the spice, rules the cosmos” in both Denis Villeneuve’s two-part Dune film adaptation and Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel. Melange, often known as “the spice,” is a product unique to the desert planet of Arrakis and is used for both enlightenment and space travel.
The resource, like the planet itself, has been fought for quite some time. What, though, occurred in the Dune universe before Paul Atreides’s tale? The purpose of Dune: The Sisterhood on HBO Max is to address some of these concerns.
Dune: The Sisterhood is a prequel to Villeneuve’s Dune: Part One (2021) that explores the early years of the Bene Gesserit, a spiritual organization whose members engage in rigorous physical and mental training to develop what appear to be miraculous abilities.
Sisterhood of the Bene Gesserit has social, religious, and political authority due in part to these talents; yet, they seek to further their influence over humanity by acquiring even more of these spheres of control.
