Thomason replaced Morven Christie, who had played DC Lisa Armstrong for the first two seasons, as the show’s main detective in the third season.
This time around, the inquiry into the death of a local mother of four Beth Metcalf will be the focus of the drama, with secrets and lies being revealed at every turn.
The narrative suggests that DS Townsend and her colleagues will have to move quickly to aid Beth’s widow Dean (Joe Armstrong, from Gentleman Jack), who is so overwhelmed by his grief that he cannot offer the care that his children require.

Secrets and lies lay behind every surface as Jenn, Manning, and the crew dives deeper into the case. Polly Hill, ITV’s head of drama, has hinted that Marsha Thomason’s character will once again enthrall viewers.
Those were her exact words: “The casting of Marsha Thomason in the previous season was spot on, and Daragh Carville and the Tall Tale Pictures crew have once again produced a plot that will keep you wondering until the very end.

“Morecambe’s spectacular coastline, with its beautiful sea and skyscapes, serves as a fitting backdrop. Marsha has promised that this season will feature a “totally different Jenn,” saying to the press, “Jenn’s much more settled in this year, you find a much more confident Jenn.”
She had a confidence crisis in the previous season, but this year, her work is much more in her comfort zone. She appears to be in a better place now that her family has moved in and the kids are getting along. She did, however, suggest that Claire Goose, the newcomer, would be a “spanner in the works.”
