The Mother Netflix Release Date: What Can We Expect From Its Storyline?

Lopez’s character is a former assassin on the run from those who have discovered her weak spot—her daughter, whom she abandoned years ago.

Although all mothers understandably prioritize their children’s safety, Lopez’s character goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure her daughter’s protection. We’ve scouted the areas, tapped the lines, and uncovered everything you need to know about the next action picture starring a female lead so you won’t have to.

Who Are the Cast Members of The Mother?

Jennifer Lopez will play a mother who goes to extreme measures to safeguard her child. Lopez, whose acting career began with a modest role in the 1986 drama picture My Little Daughter, is an amazing powerhouse of ability. Then, as her music career was beginning to take off, she joined the cast of In Living Color. She first gained widespread attention in 1997, when she starred as the title character in the historical drama Selena.

She continued her successful singing career and appeared in “chick flicks” including Maid in Manhattan, Monster in Law, and Jersey Girl. She also became a producer and acted in dramatic parts. Yet while Lopez has been branching out into darker flicks, The Mother may be her most exhilarating, action-packed film to date.

Lopez stars in what promises to be a compelling and dramatic action-thriller as a former assassin who must protect her estranged daughter from the men hunting her down. She is seen driving fast, riding a motorcycle, and brandishing a sniper weapon.

Joseph Fiennes is a seasoned veteran of thrillers and action films. Shakespeare in Love starred Ralph Fiennes, who is well known for his roles as Fred Waterford in The Handmaid’s Tale, Monsignor Timothy Howard in American Horror Story, and Merlin in the fantasy series Camelot.

It’s unclear at this point whether or not his character is nice or evil in The Mother, but trailer viewers will notice that he has facial scars and is blind in one eye, both of which may have been caused by some sort of accident or fire in his past. This suggests that Lopez’s character is a villain and that he may be responsible for the scars, which may explain why he’s on the hunt for her.

Newcomer actress Lucy Paez plays the mother’s onscreen daughter. Paez has appeared in the Spanish-language horror films Silencio and El Exorcismo De Carmen Fajas, as well as the comedy series Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, albeit her role there went unacknowledged.

Paez, in her most substantial part to date, will play an orphaned daughter whose life is in danger and whose last hope for survival lies with the mother who abandoned her. Omari Hardwick (Kick-Ass), Gael García Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle), Paul Raci (Sound of Metal), Jesse Garcia (The Avengers), and Yvonne Senat Jones (The Avengers) will all make appearances as well (Sneakerella).

What Can We Expect From The Mother Storyline?

A former assassin will do anything to protect her teenage daughter from their pursuers once they discover the girl is her daughter, whom she abandoned years earlier. The assassin has never been a mother before, so she and her kid have a lot of healing to do while they fight off gun-wielding madmen, parkour across moving traffic, and race little Italian cars into the sunset.

Even though her daughter has been adopted (perhaps more than once), we still don’t know who the child’s original father is. The answer to this question could take readers or viewers down a perilous path into the character’s troubled history and throw a wrench into his or her intentions for revenge.

We also don’t learn the motivations behind Lopez’s character’s decision to give up her daughter for adoption. Is it for her protection, or does she want to keep up her reputation as a cold-blooded killer? There’s a lot of suspense surrounding this family reunion, and viewers will have to tune in to find out what happens.
