Perhaps recent TV programming has been too uplifting. Thankfully, on March 26, you can catch one last dose of HBO’s Roys, the first family of gloriously terrible behavior. The clock is ticking away the final seconds.
This March, HBO, and HBO Max will also premiere the redesigned Perry Mason, the Oscar-nominated documentary All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, and the series conclusion of The Last of Us.
We’ve included our March recommendations below, along with a full rundown of what’s new to HBO and HBO Max this month, as well as what’s leaving HBO Max.
Perry Mason
Is Season 2 of Perry Mason the last of the survivors from the pandemic? Even though the show debuted in June of 2020 and was swiftly renewed for a second season, you might be forgiven for having forgotten about it.
Nonetheless, Matthew Rhys reprises his role as the eponymous private eye and finds himself at the center of a high-stakes murder trial involving an oil scion, all while still grappling with his troubles.
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
Oscar favorites include this moving documentary that gives the iconic artist and activist Nan Goldin a platform to share her life story.
She discusses the loss of her sister, her time spent in New York City’s LGBTQ subcultures, and her decision to pursue holding the Sackler family responsiRain Dogsble for the opioid problem in a series of personal interviews and artfully crafted slideshows. It’s not just a top documentary from 2022, but also a top film from the previous year.
Succession
It seems like just yesterday that we were watching Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) try to curry favor with his father-in-law by having him throw his bride and her brothers out to sea. After that massive betrayal, Season 4 opens up with the Roy siblings in conflict with Logan (Brian Cox).
The family must decide the fate of their legacy as the impending sale of Waystar Royco to Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgard) looms large. Seems to fit the definition of Succession to me.
The Last of Us
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey feature in “The Last of Us,” an adaptation of the hit Playstation video game about an unlikely duo surviving in a fungus-infested post-apocalyptic wasteland. Each week, HBO Max adds new episodes of this critically acclaimed show.
Every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, you can catch a brand new episode of “The Last of Us,” and the series finale is scheduled for March 12, 2023.
Rain Dogs
The premiere of Rain Dogs, an eight-part series on BBC1 in the UK, will air at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. As of the 6th of March, 2023, the show had already debuted in the US on HBO.
A rich gay guy falls in love with a single mother and her young daughter from the working class, creating an unexpected love triangle.
Those Who Wish Me Dead
Hannah, a smoke jumper, is perched on a watchtower high above the Montana wilderness, still mourning from the loss of three colleagues. The terrified, devastated, and on-the-run Connor is the next person she comes across in the dense woodland.
Hannah is trying to get Connor to safety, but she has no idea that two ruthless killers are on the prowl, and that a fire is engulfing everything in its path.
