The Continental, a prequel to the John Wick films, was unveiled in June 2017. Although the process has been drawn out and we have been waiting for the series to premiere for more than five years, much more work has been achieved recently as we race toward the premiere.
Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward are the series’ co-showrunners, and Chris Collins, Derek Kolstad, and Ken Kristensen, who all contributed to the John Wick action films, are responsible for The Continental’s screenplay. Executive producers include David Leitch, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, Kolstad, Chad Stahelski, and Shawn Simmons. The last three are well-known for their work on Deadpool films.
The Continental Release Date
According to Thedigitalfix, In September 2023, The Continental will be made available. But we don’t yet know which day.
In a press release made in August 2022, Peacock disclosed that the program would receive an exclusive distribution on the streaming service. A September 2023 release date has also been confirmed by producer Erica Lee [via Collider].
What is the Continental Plotline?
The Continental will explore Winston’s past and examine the history of the famed hotel, both of which were depicted by Ian McShane in the John Wick films.
According to Kevin Beggs to Deadline, “What we’re examining in The Continental is the young Winston and how he and his group of confederates found their way into this hotel, which we have encountered for the first time in the movie nearly 40 years later.”
According to Lee, the 1970s in New York were the background for the film. “We offer so little about each character and the hotel in each movie that I think people were anxious to discover more and go deeper into The Continental like, what does the cleaner there look like?” he said.
We are therefore able to get extremely deep into that and investigate a lot of that topic because of the chronology and place.
The first and last episodes will be directed by Albert Hughes, and episode two will be directed by Charlotte Brändström.
According to him, the spin-off series offers an “interesting backdrop to investigate the history of The Continental, which is renowned (within the film franchise) as the assassin’s hotel where you are not allowed to kill people on the premises. But of course, as soon as you leave the hotel, you’re fair game, and this rule is sometimes used to great purpose in movie storylines. Winston is in charge of everything.
The Continental Cast Members: Who Are in It?
Ayomide Adegun will represent a young Charon, and Colin Woodell will take over Ian McShane’s role as a young Winston Scott.

And I’m sorry to disappoint you, but John Wick won’t be making a comeback. Beggs stated that the setting of The Continental is “far back pre-John Wick and even pre-young John Wick,” so “that character is not making his way into the universe,” even if Keanu Reeves will have a producer role behind the scenes.
But, there are plenty of other intriguing new casting decisions and characters to keep you entertained, like Mel Gibson as the enigmatic Cormac and Katie McGrath as The Adjudicator.
