Insomniacs After School Release Date: Where Can I Watch This Series?

Since many of us have trouble sleeping at night due to insomnia, we often watch complete anime series in one sitting. Although previous high school-based anime, such as K-On and Asobi Asobase, have concentrated on club activities, the next anime, Insomniacs After School, brings a fresh take on the genre by highlighting friendship, romance, and a slice of high school life.

The anime Insomniacs After School is based on the manga of the same name, which is titled Kimi wa Hokago Insomunia in Japan. Since 2019, Viz Media has begun publishing Makoto Ojiro’s original manga in English translation. Readers have responded well to the manga for many years, but notably in the recent past.

When the anime adaptation was announced in January 2022, it immediately became one of the most talked-about shows of the year. So, in light of that, let’s go over everything we know about the Insomniacs After School anime so far.

Insomniacs After School Release Date

According to the official website, the anime adaptation of Makoto Ojiro’s manga Insomniacs After School will debut in April 2023 on Tokyo TV and other television stations. We don’t know if Crunchyroll, Netflix, or some other provider will buy the rights to watch the show internationally.

Fans of the Insomniacs After School manga will be happy to know that Chihiro Ikeda, director of Princess Maison, has converted the narrative into a live-action film starring Nana Mori (Hell Girl) and Daiken Okudaira (Nemesis). The film will premiere on June 23, 2023.

Insomniacs After School Plotline: What Can We Expect From It?

Ganta Nakami, the protagonist of this thrilling and entertaining anime, suffers from a sleeping issue and, as a result, can be irritable with his classmates. Since he has trouble sleeping, his friends send him to the abandoned observatory of the school’s Astronomy Club to collect cardboard boxes for the next festival.

Students avoid the area because of the persistent urban legend that one of the Astronomy Club’s members committed suicide there. Ganta, though, is unconcerned because he is an outcast at school and spends most of his time alone.

Soon later, a girl called Isaki Magari, also an insomniac, starts spending sporadic amounts of time in the observatory with Ganta. Everyone else wants to go home, play video games, and get a good night’s sleep, but these two have found sanctuary at the observatory.

The good news is that they’re both willing to share the space and as they spend more time together talking about all sorts of things, they’ll likely become good friends and maybe even develop a beautiful romance when they’ve spent enough time together.

The plot reveals itself to be a slice-of-life anime about two individuals who develop a deep bond by talking about things that no one else in the world can comprehend. Insomniacs After School has the potential to be a great anime this year because nearly no high school anime adaptations end up well.

Insomniacs After School Cast Members: Who Are in It?

Due to its singular emphasis on its protagonists, the anime features a small cast. Gen Satou provides the voice for Ganta Nakami, while Konomi Tamura does the same for Isaki Magari, both of whom star in the anime. The former can be heard voicing characters like Chrome in Dr. Stone and Lightning Genji in One Punch Man, two of the most successful anime series of recent years.

In addition to Platinum End and Fena: Pirate Princess, his other significant works include Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.

However, Konomi Tamura is a relative novice to the business, having made her debut in 2022 with World’s End Harem and then providing the voice of Emma in the Vermeil in Gold anime. Aside from these two, the plot also features the following characters: Natsumi Fujiwara (Spy x Family) as Kanami Anamizu, Shou Karino (Tokyo Revengers) as Rui Haida, Lynn (Fire Force) as Motoko Kanikawa, Mamiko Noto (Fairy Tail) as Usako Kurashiki, Sumire Morohoshi (The Promised Neverland) as Mina Nono, Haruka Tomatsu (Sword Art Online) as Yui Shiromaru, and Seiichirou Yamashita (Orange) as Tao Ukegawa.

Director Yuki Ikeda, whose credits include Blade of the Immortal and The Heroic Legend of Arslan, is responsible for the series. He also gained notoriety in the video game industry in 2013 for helming the critically praised title Rain. Composing the series and improvising the animation script from Makoto Ojiro’s manga, Rintarou Ikeda will be in charge.

The popular anime Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It, The Seven Deadly Sins, Poco’s Udon World, and Love Tyrant were all created by him, and he also penned their scripts.

However, Yuuki Hayashi, the show’s composer, is the highlight of the team. His abilities stand out, as evidenced by the success of My Hero Academia and Haikyuu!!. Characters are brought to life by Yuuki Fukuda, a veteran character designer who has worked on shows such as No Game No Life, Jujutsu Kaisen, Akame Ga Kill, Fairy Tail, and Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song.
