It’s going to be a big weekend at the shore. There are some great events you won’t want to miss.
Hungry for a great foodie event? Then grab your friends and head over to Asbury Park for the 8th Annual Restaurant Tour. The tour takes place this Sunday, April 28, 2019. Featuring Small Bites, Sampling, & Demos!
Restaurant Tour wristbands will be sold in advance for $50 per person. A limited number of wristbands will be available for purchase on the day of the tour.
At the event, the Restaurant Tour Check-In Tent will be stationed in Press Plaza for guests to collect wristbands. Tour guests will pick up their wristbands along with a tasting guide and map of participating sites as well as offers from local merchants. FREE tour transportation will make continuous loops around town provided by the Chamber throughout the day.
'Restaurant Tour Ambassadors' (students paired with merchant volunteers) will be stationed throughout the city guiding food-lovers to sites on the tour and demonstrations happening all day.
Here are some of the Participating Restaurants at this year’s tour: Ada's Gojjo, The Anchor's Bend, Asbury Oyster Bar, Brando's, Cielito Lindo, Confections of a Rock$tar, Food Lube, Johnny Mac's House of Spirits, Juice Basin and Kim Marie's Eat 'n' Drink Away.
If you are in the mood for wine then the Waretown Spring Wine Festival is for you. This is a two-day event that features an array of samplings from a spectrum of award-winning wineries from throughout the Garden State. In addition to premier wine tastings, there will also be live entertainment, as well as crafters, retail vendors, food vendors, and a children’s play area. Apr 27, 12:00 PM – Apr 28, 5:00 PM at the Waretown Recreation and Lake Area, 182 Wells Mills Rd, Waretown.
Did we mention Beer and BBQ yet? No…well here it comes. The Allaire BBQ & Brew Fest is upon us. A fun day with…a Beer Garden, award winning BBQ, food trucks, live music, and is dog friendly (please be sure your dog is on a leash). The historic village will have craft demonstrations at the Blacksmith Shop, Tinsmith Shop, and Carpenter Shop, hearth cooking at the manager's house, interactive activities for patrons of all ages at the row house and blast furnace, fiber arts demonstrations near the village green, 18th and 19th century interactive children's games. The Fest is being held April 27 and 28 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Allaire Village, in Farmingdale.
Okay, here’s another really great event if you enjoy BACON. Yes, there's definitely a bacon theme going on. Bacon, food trucks, wine and fireworks all together in one place! Grab your bib and favorite friends for everything bacon. Laurita Winery's BaconFest 2019 is this weekend, Saturday April 27th, 2019 and Sunday April 28th, 2019.
It’s not quite “Game of Thrones” but close. The New Jersey Renaissance Faire in Smithville on Apr 27-Apr 28 will transport you back to the days of yore and merry olde England as the historic village of Smithville is transformed into the Shire of Smithville in the heart of the English Renaissance. Fun for the whole family including comedy, tragedy, sword fighting, dance, song, knights, jesters and so much more.
As we have said, we could all use a good laugh now and then. The Jokes on Us Tour. Actually, the joke is on all of us as Lewis Black returns to the Borgata this weekend. Don't miss this comedian, well known for his Comedy Central series, Lewis Black's Root of All Evil. You can catch him at in Atlantic City at The Music Box on April 26 and 27.
For something a little more refined, you may want to take in The Atlantic City Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty at the Circus Maximus Theater on Sunday, April 28, 2019. Showtime is 4:00 PM. You will get swept away into a sublime world of kings, queens, fairy godmothers and storybook creatures. The tale of Sleeping Beauty comes to life in the most majestic classical ballet of all time. Set to Tchaikovsky's fabulous and familiar score and combined with Artistic Director, Phyllis Papa’s stunning choreography, Sleeping Beauty is a timeless classic you can enjoy with the entire family. With special appearances by fairy tale favorites like Puss-In-Boots and Little Red Riding Hood and of course, that kiss from the handsome prince, Atlantic City Ballet’s, Sleeping Beauty will create a memory to cherish happily ever after.
For boat fans, you can indulge at the 10th Anniversary Spring In-Water Boat Show at Huddy Park in Downtown Toms River on Saturday, April 27th from 2 pm to 4 pm. The Huddy Park In-Water Boat Show is FREE with FREE BOAT RIDES. Check out all the boats in the water and on land for sea trials. Get the facts from knowledgeable staff who will answer all your boating questions. The show runs 10 am to 6 pm each day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 26th through the 28th.
