This Weekend at the Jersey Shore
May 16, 2019--It looks like it’s going to be beautiful weather at the Jersey Shore this weekend. High’s in the 70's, sun and stunning fluffy white clouds. There’s no better time to get out and about and enjoy your weekend at the shore.
There’s something for everyone going on this weekend and here are a few events you won’t want to miss.
Head on down to Seaside Heights for the Jersey Shore Festival being held May 17-18.
The Jersey Shore Festival is a FREE ADMISSION, rain-or-shine music and arts festival that kicks off the summer festival season and proves that summer really does start sooner at the Jersey Shore.
With performances by over 150 artists from around the world, the Jersey Shore Festival is the premier emerging artist festival in New Jersey!
Aside from the music, the Jersey Shore Festival also includes activities that are fun for the whole family including BMX and Skate Shows, Motocross Shows, Free Monster Truck Rides, Food Trucks, the JSF Vendor Village, and much more!

Calling all foodies to the Belmar Seafood Festival scheduled on May 17-19 in downtown Belmar. If you love seafood this is the event you don't want to miss! Fill up on butter-dripped lobster rolls, crab cakes, seafood platters and our favorite, coconut shrimp. This is a true seafood lover’s dream!
Visit seafood and specialty food vendors, craft vendors and a full-service bar tent! This event also features a great music line-up! The event is being held in Belmar Plaza and stretches out on to Main Street in Belmar.
Friday, May 17, 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 18, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 19, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
This is a rain or shine event.
If you love vintage cars and who doesn’t, stop by Ocean Grove for the Vintage Car Show on May 18. Stroll Main St. in the Grove and take in over 100 cars from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. The wheels are on display between 10 am – 4 pm. ‘Sounds of the Street’ will provide era-appropriate Doo Wop Music from 11 am – 3 pm. Free admission.
On May 18-19 take in MayFest in Historic Smithville from 10 am - 5 pm. Mayfest at Historical Smithville offers an abundance of family fun! There will be more than 100 juried crafters and vendors, an international food court, children’s activities, nonprofit organizations and live entertainment.
Free Shuttle runs from 9:30 am-5:30 pm each day. The shuttle departs from the Smithville Shopping Square located on Smithville Blvd.
Nature lover? Then this event is for you! On May 16-19 get to the New Jersey Audubon Cape May Spring Festival. Four days of events include bird walks with local naturalists and speakers will be Kenn Kaufman, author of “Season on the Wind: Inside the World of Spring Migration,” and Scott Whittle, co-author of “The Warbler Guide”.

If you have a chili and salsa fanatic in the family you have to get to the New Jersey State Chili & Salsa Cook-Off on May 18 in Toms River.
The competition runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Washington Street with the food competition plus food trucks, crafters, live music, children’s rides, face-painting and games.

For the fishermen and women there is the Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament on May 19 at Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park from 6:30 am — 1:00 pm.
The Governor's Annual Surf Fishing Tournament is a great opportunity for families and friends to get outdoors and enjoy the sport of surf fishing! Appreciation of our marine resources through surf fishing will hopefully build a strong advocacy for marine resource conservation. Entry to the park is free to individuals who register for the surf fishing tournament.
The Governor has been invited to present the prizes during a special awards ceremony. The individual catching the largest fish will receive the "Governor's Trophy" and have their name engraved on the Governor's Cup, which is permanently displayed at Island Beach State Park.
For the more cerebral-minded, TEDxAsburyPark CHAOS is amongst the largest and highest-rated TEDx conferences on the east coast set on the stage at the legendary Paramount Theatre on Saturday, May 18 starting at 9am. TEDxAsburyPark is an annual volunteer-organized event dedicated to education, community, innovation, and “ideas worth spreading.” Each year, a different theme culminates in a stimulating day of nonfiction theater. For the 7th year of TEDxAsburyPark, more than 25 speakers, entertainers, and artists will share their "Chaos" stories and ideas on the Paramount Theatre stage in an all-day event.
