“As soon as we started talking about the storylines for season 5, it was clear that we needed to go back to the original plan and do six seasons to do the story justice,” said the show’s creator, Peter Morgan.

And the big news is that season 6 will be the last one

And there will probably be more new people all over the last season.

The Crown Season 6 Timeline

Deadline said that season 6 will take place in the early 2000s, but we don’t yet know how far into the decade it will go.

Netflix hasn’t released an official synopsis, but we can make some educated guesses about what will happen:

Diana and Dodi Al Fayed both died in 1997. On August 31, 1997, they were killed in a car accident in Paris. At the time, paparazzi were trying to catch them. After the tragedy, the Queen and Charles, William, and Harry went to Balmoral, which is in Scotland. People were upset that the flag at Buckingham Palace wasn’t at half-mast, which caused a lot of controversies. But in the end, the Queen did give a speech that was shown on TV.

1997 was the golden wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip. They had been married for 50 years. In a speech at Banqueting House in London, the Queen said, “He has been my strength and support all these years.”

The beginning of William and Kate’s relationship was in 2001 when they met at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. It’s still not clear whether or not The Crown will show their wedding in 2011.

The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret both died in 2002, just a few weeks apart.

Queen’s Golden Jubilee (2002): Elizabeth was the first British queen to rule for 50 years since Queen Victoria. To mark the event, she went on a huge 40,000-mile trip that year to see people all over the country and the world.

In 2005, when Prince Charles and Camilla got married, they had a civil ceremony at the Windsor Guildhall and a blessing at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Tony Blair was in office from 1997 to 2007. He came into the picture at the end of season 5 of The Crown, after Labour won a historic General Election in 1997. He was said to have a tense relationship with the Queen, but neither of them addressed the rumors. After what happened on September 11, 2001, the Iraq War was started in 2003.

Episodes Guide

The first five seasons of The Crown each have 10 episodes, so we would expect season 6 to have the same amount.

Is Season 6 the Final Season?

As of now, season 6 is the last part of The Crown, but a prequel series has reportedly been talked about.

In April of this year, Deadline said that Netflix was “talking with The Crown producer Left Bank in the early stages.”

“Not yet in development and not close to getting the green light,” the streamer said.

The article said that the series would probably take place before World War II or during Queen Victoria’s time in power.

Will the Crown Cover Harry and Meghan’s Relationship?

If you’re hoping that Morgan will talk about the relationship between the two former royals in future seasons, don’t hold your breath.

When season 6 was announced, he said, “Just to be clear, season 6 won’t bring us any closer to the present day. Instead, it will just let us cover the same period in more depth.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he spoke directly about the two: “Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what it is or how it will end. One hopes for happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.”

When did The Crown Season 6 Film?

Filming for the sixth season began in September 2022, but it was put on hold for a short time after Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8.

In a statement to Deadline, Morgan said, “The Crown is a love letter to [the Queen], and I have nothing to add right now except silence and respect.”

A few days later, filming started up again in Spain, and Debicki was seen on set recreating Princess Diana’s trip to Bosnia in 1997.

The Crown Season 6 Plot

We know that the sixth season will talk about Princess Diana’s death because photographers saw Elizabeth Debicki shooting just before she died in a tunnel in Paris.

Before filming that scene, there was reported “anxiety behind the scenes,” even though the crash itself probably won’t be shown on screen.

A member of the production team told Deadline, “We’ve been afraid of getting to this point.” “The countdown is down to two weeks, and while we’re calmly going about our business, it’s fair to say that there’s some anxiety, a sense of being on the edge. I mean, this is a bombshell in terms of how sensitive it is.”

Morgan has also said that the new series won’t go further back than the early 2000s. This means that recent events like Prince Andrew’s fall from grace and Harry and Meghan’s move to the U.S. won’t be shown.

The 2011 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is also likely to be too late to be included in the sixth season.

“Peter Morgan has said it very clearly: he can’t write something until he’s had time to get a good view of it,” Broadcast producer Suzanne Mackie told the news station. “I think he’s always thought that 10 years is the least amount of time he needs to look back on something to understand it.”

Since the fifth season has been criticized more than the first four for not being true to history, it would seem wise for Morgan and Netflix not to get too close to the present day.

Still, season 6 of The Crown has a lot of interesting things to talk about, like the deaths of Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother, both of whom died in 2002.

How Will The Crown End?

After seven years, we don’t know how The Crown will end, and Peter Morgan is known for surprising viewers with how he handles the Windsor family’s most famous moments.

But some people have said that the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 when she celebrated 50 years on the throne, would be a great way to end what Morgan has called a “love letter” to Her Majesty.

The Crown Star Jonathan Pryce on Judi Dench: I Am “Bitterly Disappointed!

Jonathan Pryce doesn’t like how Judi Dench and his “fellow artists” have been criticizing “The Crown” in public.

In Season 5 and the sixth and final season of the popular royal drama, the 75-year-old actor will play an older version of the late Prince Philip.

The British actor recently criticized actress Judi Dench and other critics of the show who wanted it to have a warning about making up stories about the royal family.

Before the Season 5 premiere on November 9, he told Deadline that he was “bitterly disappointed” by the people who made fun of the Peter Morgan show.

Dench, who is 87 years old, told the Times earlier this month what she thought about the show. She called it “cruelly unfair to the individuals and harmful to the institution they represent.”

After people complained, Netflix added a disclaimer to the trailer for a show that came out earlier this month.

“The vast majority of people know it’s a drama,” Pryce said. They have seen four seasons of it.

The “Two Popes” actor thinks that the recent public backlash is because people are “more sensitive” now that the queen has died.

Queen Elizabeth died on September 8 at the age of 96, after being on the throne for 70 years.

In the new season, Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville, who play the queen and her sister Princess Margaret, agreed with Pryce.

Manville, who is 66 years old, said that the anger towards Netflix is “certainly worse” now that the monarch has died. “There is a lot of sympathy for the queen, and I feel very sad that she is no longer with us,” the actress from “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris,” told the outlet.

She told people that they need to know that “The Crown” is just a made-up drama and nothing more.

In a way, I can see why they did it. “It’s understandable that people still feel a little bit like their nerve endings are still a little bit raw,” said Staunton, who is 66 years old.

She went on to say, “But we’re in it, so we don’t think it’s low-class. We think it’s true, honest, and polite.”
